Laurence de LEVAL
Laurence de Leval is full Professor of Pathology and Director of the Institute of Pathology at the University Hospital of Lausanne, Switzerland. She is an internationally recognized leader in haematopathology combining longstanding expertise in clinical diagnostics, teaching, and translational research. She received the Benjamin Castleman Award from the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology for her discovery of the follicular helper T-cell derivation of angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, and the InBev-Baillet Latour Prize for Clinical Research in 2009. Her research interests are in advancing haematopathology diagnostics and the discovery of molecular and pathology determinants of lymphoma biology, particularly T/NK-cell malignancies. Dr de Leval authored more than 350 peer-reviewed publications and several textbooks chpaters, was co-editor of the International Consensus Classification of myeloid and lymphoid neoplasms, and is member of the steering committee for the Classification Advancement Meeting. Dr de Leval is the scientific secretary of the European Association for Haematopathology, co-chair of the T-cell lymphoma Working Group of the LYmphoma Study Association and serves as an expert pathologist for several clinical trials. She is a member of several international societies, elected member of the International Lymphoma Study Group and corresponding member of the Belgian Royal Academy of Medicine.
