Case Guidelines

Please read the essentials for cases carefully as abstracts not prepared correctly, will not be considered for presentation.

  • Case text is limited to 3,500 characters
  • Case must be submitted in English
  • Please structure your case as follows:
    • Case Description
    • Biopsy Fixation Details
    • Frozen Tissue Available
    • Details of Microscopic Findings
    • Immunophenotype
    • Cytogenetics
    • Molecular Studies
    • Proposed Diagnosis
    • Interesting Feature(s) of Submitted Case
    • No tables and no graphics can be used
    • All cases must contain original work

Case Topics

We welcome you to start preparing your case under one of the following categories.

Lymphoma Workshops

We are seeking cases that illustrate the following:

  • Nodal and extranodal T-cell lymphomas with prominent histiocytes, e.g. Lennert lymphoma, anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL), associated with haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH); excluding cutaneous lymphoma
  • B-cell lymphomas with prominent histiocytes, e.g. T-cell/histiocyte-rich large B-cell lymphoma (THRLBCL), lymphomas with granulomatous reaction, Epstein-Barr Virus positive diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (EBV+ DLBCL), excluding nodular lymphocyte -predominant Hodgkin lymphoma/ nodular lymphocyte predominant large B-cell lymphoma (NLPHL/NLPBL)
  • Immune privileged site lymphomas excluding primary diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) of the brain parenchyma and testis (i.e. primary lymphomas of the ovary, adrenal gland, breast, meninges
  • Unusual cases of classic Hodgkin lymphoma (CHL), including lymphocyte-rich CHL and lymphocyte-depleted CHL, CD30 negative CHL, CHL with cytotoxic phenotype, T-follicular helper (TFH)-cell rich
  • Primary mucosal or cutaneous CD30+ T-cell lymphoma/lymphoproliferative disorders (LPDs); incl. lymphomatoid papulosis (LYP), cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL)

Bone Marrow Workshops

The bone marrow workshop invites submission of cases in the following categories:

  • Myeloid neoplasms with significant fibrosis (excluding classic MPN)
    e.g. cases that challenge the differential of fibrotic MDS (with and without excess blasts) and MDS/MPN
  • Myeloid neoplasms (including AML) with concomitant clonal mature T or NK cell proliferations/T-cell lymphomas
  • Hypoplastic MDS and hypoplastic AML (de novo) including cases presenting with germline disposition
    limited to adult cases (≥18 years)

Case Requirements

  1. Ten H&E and 15 unstained sections (in cases with very limited tissue please prioritise unstained sections).
  2. Please clearly label the slides with the Case Number” generated at case submission.
  3. Print out the Workshop case abstract that is generated after submission and send along with the glass slides.
  4. Include contact details (email) of the submitting/corresponding author in the package that will be sent.
  5. Please indicate that goods have “a commercial value of €1.00” to avoid customs and import duties.

After submitting a Case

Cases must be sent to Ioannis Anagnostopoulo (Lymphoma Workshop) or Leonie Saft (Bone Marrow Workshop) by January 29, 2026. Please indicate that goods have “a commercial value of 1.00 EUR” to avoid customs and import duties.

Please note that a copy of the case details should be enclosed along with the slides that are sent to Ioannis and Leonie.

Cases will be organized into sessions using the topics chosen by the submitter in the online system but may be rescheduled at the discretion of the Workshop Panel.
